The tank that
runs itself.

Self-sustaining planted ecosystems built on the SLESS method, engineered with ecology instead of chemicals. You stop fighting your tank and start engineering it. It begins with the part most hobbyists ignore: the layers under the sand.

What actually kills a tank.

Most tanks do not fail at the surface. They fail underneath, where a dead, inert bottom forces you to do by hand and by bottle the work a living substrate should be doing on its own.

Crash

Inert gravel stores nothing. Chemistry swings, and one bad week wipes the tank.

Algae

Nutrients with nowhere to go feed algae instead of plants and microfauna.

The treadmill

Endless water changes and dosing. Maintenance that never actually ends.

Dead livestock

Shrimp and fish pay for an unstable foundation you cannot see from the glass.

SLESS builds a living substrate: cation exchange, a benthic nutrient battery, and a working food web. The system regulates itself instead of waiting on you. You stop chasing parameters and start engineering conditions.

See it running.

Real tanks, a public build, and the data behind the method.

The system around
your tank.

Two halves of one idea. The Aquarium AI helps you plan and diagnose. The logbook is where you record what your tank actually does, so the story is yours to read.

Aquarium AI

A complete source prompt that turns any AI model, Claude, ChatGPT, or Gemini, into a personal assistant trained on your exact tank. No account, no payment, no strings. It works with the AI you already use, and it remembers everything about your setup. The easiest way to see how the SLESS way of thinking applies to your own water.

The 12-Month Logbook

The AI tells you what your tank needs. The logbook is where you write down what happens, so patterns stop hiding. A guided year of tracking the slow story of a system finding its balance.

  • Plan your world. Species compatibility templates. An aquarium without a plan is a glass box waiting for algae.
  • Track the small things. Microfauna and behavior, week by week. Consistency reveals patterns scattered testing misses.
  • Diagnose the crashes. Logic trees for nutrient spikes and mystery failures. Guessing leads to expensive mistakes.
  • Keep the record. Turn failures into data and successes into science. Your tank is a living history.

Build the engine.
Add only what you want.

Shipped anywhere in the country. The SLESS substrate system is the engine of the whole tank. Start there, then add only the parts you actually need. No glass, you use your own, so the box ships lighter and you pay for what matters instead of packaging. Toggle the add-ons and watch them drop into the tank.

The guide, written by me

Every kit comes with the SLESS and Aquarium Ecology guide. The same reasoning behind the method, in plain language, so you understand why the tank works and not just how to set it up.

In the room

It calms the room down

A balanced, living tank is one of the most relaxing things you can keep in a home. People slow down in front of it. That is not a feature you add later. It is what an ecosystem does on its own.

Hands on

Kids learn by doing

A real way for children and parents to get close to nature and real science instead of a screen. They watch microfauna appear, plants root, and a system change on its own terms.

Why not just one
substrate?

I ran a five month study (SUBEX) putting five substrates against each other to find the best one. There was not one. Seachem Flourite grew the strongest plants. The volcanic Fluval Stratum grew the richest living food web. Different materials do different jobs. That is the whole reason SLESS blends them instead of betting everything on a single product. It is a home lab pilot, limits and all, documented in full.

Want it done for you?
I'll build it by hand.

Central Florida only. A different service from the shipped kits. I bring everything, build it in your space, and maintain it after. I provide the glass, arrange the SLESS substrate architecture, and inoculate the system with pioneer microorganisms so you watch the ecological succession from day one. Every full install also includes a free live Microbiome Kickstart Pack, so the tank is ready to thrive the day it is set up. A living tank is also one of the calmest things you can keep in a room, and a hands on way for kids and parents to connect with real nature instead of a screen.

Merch for people who think
about aquariums and science.

These are not in production yet, and I am honest about that. I make things in batches once enough people commit, so reserving is free and simply tells me to make it. You are only ever charged if a run actually happens.

Next major launch

The Ecological
3D Calculator.

Bioload, stocking density, substrate ratios, and oxygen demand, all calculated from real ecological principles instead of the old one inch per gallon myth. An interactive 3D model of your tank that does the math behind SLESS for you. This is the next big thing I am building, and the biggest launch on the horizon.

The Ecological 3D Calculator

The "How NOT to Kill" guides.

Species guides built on real biology, not store advice. Each one covers the animal's history and origin, its biology, its behavioral diagnostics, the real causes of death in home tanks, and how to breed it properly. One organism, the whole picture.
